Economic Development District
|
The Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District
(NENEDD) is a 16-county regional development organization that encourages
cooperation between local government officials, community based organizations
and the private sector. NENEDD provides the "link" between
federal and state programs and the local level where development actually
occurs. The mission of NENEDD is "to address economic opportunities and
challenges identified through a Community Economic Development
Strategy." 80 local units of government are active participants as
dues-paying members along with over 80 private businesses and agencies that
are associate members of NENEDD.

Nebraska Department of Economic Development
|
The primary objective of
Nebraska's Economic Development Loan Program is to provide funds to local
governments who in turn loan the dollars to qualifying businesses. These
loans enable the creation and retention of job opportunities for low and
moderate-income persons. The program is funded through Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) dollars provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development and administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic
Development.
|
Wayne Revolving Loan Fund (WRLF)
|
The purpose of the WRLF
is to distribute CDBG funds, which the City of Wayne has received from the
State of Nebraska, Department of Economic Development as funded by HUD.
And to support businesses, which expand the city's economic base and create
quality jobs for persons in the low and moderate-income levels. All
project activities must meet one of the three national objectives:
|
|
Benefit low- and moderate- income persons; or
Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or
blight; or
Meet other community development needs having a
particular urgency because existing conditions pose a serious and immediate
threat to health or welfare of the community and other financial resources
are not available to meet such needs.
