The Board
of Directors attends a retreat each year to determine a program of work for the
organization. Committees are
established to work on specific issues that concern our membership and
community, and include: Housing, Economic Development & Funding, Fundraising,
and Membership.
Each of these committees is charged
with certain parameters that would focus their efforts. The Economic Development Committee concentrates
on obtaining options for ownership, researching infrastructure and development
needs, ascertaining costs for infrastructure, cataloging available sites, and
addressing zoning issues. The Housing
Committee looks at owner and rental housing availability for employees and
works with the city on tax issues, incentives for new construction, and
assistance. This committee has expanded
to be more representative of the public as a whole, which is critical to our
ability to represent the interests of the community. The Fundraising Committee focuses on the Vendor Golf
event, and other fundraising opportunities for the betterment of the community.
The Membership Committee focuses on recruitment and retention of
the Wayne Industries, Inc.
supporters. With broad and
effective membership, economic development needs of the Wayne area will be met.
Wayne Industries also recognizes
the need to promote Wayne to past, present and future members of the
community. An ongoing project has been
to partner with Wayne High School and Wayne State College to reach alumni to
encourage living in the Wayne Community.
